Weiser State Forest hike of Feb.28, 2009
Kurt and I met at the Love’s Truck Stop off I – 78 Exit #23 around 0915 after idle chit chat and a visit to the Subway at the Truck Stop. (trail snacks) we proceeded to the parking area where we would enter the forest.
Till we got our packs organized and warmer cloths added on to our bodies it was 10:00 when we entered the forest. The first 2 miles was up the mountain. In which we where in no big hurry, this being the first hike of the year we where a bit out of shape. Plus the fact that we were taking in all that nature had to offer.
In the 5 !/2 hours we where out we covered approximately 6.25 miles in 28-30 degree temps. . Other then a few other hikers the only other living creature was a squirrel and a couple birds (No Robins yet ). We did however see some interesting stone walls and rocks piled in a circle 2 ft. high and 8-10 ft in circumference. Which will warrant future research for there being.
